Please use the following chart as a guide only as portion sizes will depend on whom and how the cake is cut.
Coffee Portions: 1 x 1 inch (2.5cm x 2.5cm) standard wedding size
Dessert portions: 2 x 1 inch (5cm x 2.5cm)
Please advise us whether you intend to serve your cake with coffee or as dessert when you request a quote.

Please note: Whilst we do not add nuts to our recipes, we cannot promise our cakes will not come in contact with any other nut products.
Buttercream or Fondant?
The first thing you need to decide when choosing the perfect cake is Fondant or Buttercream.
Buttercream is a more popular option offering a relaxed look which goes amazing with fresh flowers. It can be dressed up as a naked or semi naked cake, or include gold leaf, drips and even macarons.
Fondant is more traditional and offers a lot more options when it comes to the finer details such as different stencils.
In the Melbourne summer time Buttercream is the safer option, however with carefully planned delivery and keeping all cake types in the fridge they will be just fine.

WHERE CAN WE BE FOUND?
Our Private Cake Studio is located in Taylors Lakes. The address will be provided in an email once the Order is confirmed and the Deposit is paid.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
As we are a Boutique Cake Studio we encourage customers to book their orders as soon as you know your date.
- Wedding and Engagement Cakes- Minimum 3 Months notice
- All other Cakes- Minimum of 3-4 weeks notice
- Dessert Catering- Minimum 3 weeks notice
We understand not all events are booked with weeks of notice so feel free to email us at queenbaker82@gmail.com and we will confirm first if we can accomodate a last minute request.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHERE OR WHEN TO PICK UP MY ORDER?
When your Order is Booked in and Deposit is paid, you will receive your Pick Up Instructions email at the start of the week of your Event, outlining all of your final details for pick up.
CAN I CHANGE MY PICK UP TIME?
Once your Pick up time is booked, our daily schedule is structured around these times. Therefore we ask that if you must change your time slot we ask that you call us on 03 9379 2800 to see where we can accomodate your preferred time.
CAN I COME TO SEE YOU TO MAKE A BOOKING?
Due to our commitment to being a Covid Safe Business and focusing on our daily baking, we do not offer in person consultations. You can book a phone consultation or email your request where we will respond during our allocated admin times.
WHAT SIZE CAKE TO I NEED?
This has got to be the most frequently asked question we get asked. Please consider the below when deciding on the most appropriate sized cake.
Based on single height 3” high Round Cakes
- 6″ Round 6 Dessert/ 12 Coffee Servings
- 7″ Round 10 Dessert/20 Coffee Servings
- 8″ Round 12 Dessert/ 24 Coffee Servings
- 9″ Round 18 Dessert/36 Coffee Servings
- 10″ Round 25 Dessert/ 50 Coffee Servings
CAN YOU COPY ANOTHER CAKE ARTIST'S CAKE DESIGN?
Whilst we appreciate that you love a particular cake design, we pride ourselves on being as original as we can be. So whilst you are welcome to provide images of cake designs we ask that you bear in mind we will need to tweak the design to make it our own.
ARE YOU CAKES / DESSERTS BAKED FRESH?
YES!! They most certainly are. We only bake fresh to order which is why we require as much notice as we do to ensure we have enough ingredients and supplies on hand, which means you receive your goods at their maximum freshness. If you have any leftovers, they will last up to one week after your event.
HOW DO I STORE MY CAKE/DESSERTS ONCE PICKED UP?
Upon collection we will advise you how to best store your items. As a general rule of thumb please follow the below recommendations:
Desserts = Fridge
Buttercream Cakes = Fridge
Fondant Cakes = Room Temp (unless specified otherwise)
Cookies & Donuts = Room Temp
Cakes with Fresh Flowers = Fridge
Please keep away from direct heating, cooling and sunlight, as Queen Baker will not take responsibility for any items melting or sweating.
Please note once an order is picked up, we are not responsible for any changes in the condition of the items as we can not control how the items have been transported or stored.
ANYTHING I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I PICK UP MY ORDER?
If you or your representatives pick up and set up your cake(s), desserts you assume all liability and responsibility for the condition of the cake(s), desserts once it leaves QUEEN BAKERS possession. It is recommended you have a flat surface with a non slip mat to transport your cakes/desserts safely.
HOW MUCH IS DELIVERY?
Delivery and setup costs range from $60-$100. For deliveries over an hour from our Taylors Lakes studio, and Sunday deliveries will incur the higher rates.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR DELIVERY?
If Queen Baker is delivering your Cake/Desserts you are responsible for providing an appropriate and secure table and environment for the Cakes/Desserts. Cakes are heavy and require a sturdy table and optimum room temperature.
HOW DO I MANAGE MY GUESTS ALLERGIES?
Please inform us of any guest allergies at the time of placing your order but please note that our products either contain, may contain, or have come into contact with milk, wheat, nuts, soy, gluten and other allergens. We advise that you notify guests with dietary requirements of this in the lead up to your event.
HOW LONG IS MY QUOTE VALID FOR?
As we receive a high volume of enquiries, we dedicate the required time to provide you a quote, this is valid for 7 days. If you wish to secure the booking we take a deposit- Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for this information.
If you do not secure the date within 7 days and you wish to book after the 7 days the quote will be reviewed and re-quoted with a view to a price increase.
UNTIL WHEN CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO MY ORDER?
Final adjustments to baked orders are required 7 days prior to your pick up date. We ask that you avoid making any changes unless absolutely necessary.
DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY CAEKE IN FULL, UPFRONT?
NO! We prefer you simply make the initial deposit to secure the booking and then the remainder be paid the week of the Occassion.
HOW AND WHEN DO I PAY? WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT TERMS?
Once you place your online order, payment of your deposit is automatically deducted from your preferred payment option. The final instalment is then due the week of the celebration.
HOW SHOULD I STORE LEFT OVERS?
Most left overs can be placed in an airtight container and some can be refrigerated (if there is any left!). We will advise upon pick up in regards to storage of your products, but feel free to ask if you are unsure when you place your booking or upon collection.
